Clarice Marion Calhoun, age 91, of Fennimore, died on Wednesday morning Nov. 16, 2016, at the Fennimore Good Samaritan Society. Clarice was born Aug. 10, 1925 in Brooklyn, WI, the only child of Philip and Mabel (Olson) Johnson. She worked at Cuna Mutual Insurance before marrying he high school sweetheart, William (Bill) Calhoun on Feb. 17, 1945. They farmed in the Brooklyn-Stoughton area for 10 years. Mary Jean Clifton, age 88, of Dodgeville, formerly of Montfort, passed away peacefully on Nov. 15, 2016, at CrestRidge Memory Care with her family at her side. Mary Jean was born Sept. 7, 1928, on the family farm in Iowa County to John and Mayme (Minter) Laufenberg. She married the love of her life, Marvin, of Mt. Hope on April 7, 1948. The couple farmed near Montfort until moving into Montfort in 1961. Loren Joseph Welsh, age 85, of Prairie du Chien and formerly of Fennimore, died on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016, at Gundersen Hospital in La Crosse. Loren was born on May 14, 1931, in Prairie du Chien, WI the son of Frank and Elsie (Geisler) Welsh. He married Gilda Freymiller on Sept. 5, 1956 at the Marion Church. After graduating from Boscobel High School, Loren worked as a farm hand for a short time before entering the US Marine Corp. Montfort, WI-Charles F. “Chuck” Sickles, age 59, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday morning Nov. 5, 2016 at his residence in Montfort after his resilient battle with cancer. Chuck was born on July 17, 1957 in Dubuque, IA the son of Russell and Leila “Lee” (Scott) Sickles. He was united in marriage to Jayne Gundlach on July 15, 1983 at the Montfort United Methodist Church. Fennimore – Cleo B. Reithmeyer, age 94, of Fennimore, died on Thursday morning Oct. 6, 2016 at the Fennimore Good Samaritan Society. Cleo was born on April 2, 1922 in Mt. Zion, WI, the daughter of Jacob and Mable (Sabins) Trumm. She married Mark “Ike” McCluskey in 1939. Ike preceded her in death on Aug. 4, 1974 and Cleo was later married to Zeno Reithmeyer in 1978 until his death on Feb. 10, 2000. Cleo began her working career as a telephone operator in Mt. Zion. Karen A. Duffey, age 74, of Fennimore, passed away peacefully Monday October 3rd in the company of family.  Karen was born August 21, 1942 in Muscoda the daughter of John and Mary (Gardner) Duffey. She found her passion through knowledge and reading. Upon graduation from Muscoda High School, she earned her degree in English from what was then Wisconsin State University – Platteville followed by a Master’s in History from the University of New Hampshire. Fennimore, WI-Clifford G. Jahnke, age 84, died on Monday morning Oct. 3, 2016, at his residence in Fennimore. Clifford was born on July 26, 1932 in Lancaster, WI the son of Milan and Velma (Wenzel) Jahnke. He married Ruby Braudt on August 12, 1956 at the Mt. Hope United Methodist Church. Clifford raised beef cattle outside of Fennimore for 25 years in addition to working for Rockwool Insulation in Lancaster.
