Gilda J. Welsh, age 86, of Oconomowoc and formerly of Fennimore and Prairie du Chien, died on Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017, at Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital. She was born on June 11, 1931 in Marion Township Grant Co., WI the daughter of Lou & Elizabeth (Bender) Freymiller. Gilda was united in marriage to Loren Welsh on Sept. 5, 1956 at the Marion Church. Gilda had a passion for farming her entire life. She and Loren purchased a farm just west of Fennimore in 1961 and affectionately named the farm “Lovebug Acres”. Jim H. “Moose” Winkers, age 83, of Onalaska and formerly of Fennimore, died on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at his residence in Onalaska. Jim was born on Jan. 4, 1934 in Wingville, WI the son of Henry J. and Louisa (Fritsch) Winkers. He married Judy Vogel on April 28, 1962. Margaret “Midge” Ann Newberry, age 92, of Madison, died on Monday morning Sept. 11, 2017, at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg. Margaret was born on August 25, 1925 in North Lancaster Township, Grant County, WI, the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Rothe) Novinska. She married Raymond Newberry on April 3, 1948, in Fennimore, WI. Margaret attended St. Mary’s Catholic School in Fennimore and The School of Nursing in Wausau. She and Raymond lived throughout the country and abroad, including Kansas City, Texas, Taiwan, Colorado and Wisconsin. Michael G. Vavricka, age 67, of Fennimore, died on Friday morning Sept. 8, 2017 at his residence in Fennimore. Michael was born on April 18, 1950, in Dodgeville, WI the son of Joseph and Daisy (Timmens) Vavricka. He married Alana Harms on July 9, 1977 at the Highland Presbyterian Church. On the morning of August 24, 2017, Leora “Lonnie” Mae Kolar completed her journey on earth and passed peacefully into the loving hands of her Lord and Savior. She was 89 years of age. Born April 13, 1928 in Fennimore, Wisconsin, Lonnie was the daughter of Monica M. and J. Leonard Fry. Robert William Belscamper, age 87, of Fennimore, died on Tuesday August 22, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Society in Fennimore. Robert was born on Jan. 13, 1930 in Mt. Hope, WI the son of Allen and Doris (Merry) Belscamper. Bob lived in Mt. Hope Township until 1943 when he moved with his parents to North Lancaster Township, where he farmed with them until after his marriage. Mt. Hope/ Fennimore – Alice Mary (Waterman) Keeney passed away on Wednesday evening, August 16, 2017, at the age of 100. She was born in her Grandma Annie (Biddick) Peat’s old rock house 4_1/2 miles southwest of Livingston in Clifton Township, Grant County, WI on April 15, 1917.
