Kristen and her bandmates were travelling in preparation to record music for Dewclaw, a collaborative music project that Kris was so incredibly passionate about when the accident occurred. Buck graduated from Fennimore High School in May of 1956 and soon after enlisted in the United States Army in August 1956. He completed basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and served in the 126th Transportation Unit as a truck mechanic.
