Fennimore, WI formerly of Chicago, IL-Ronald F. Blume, age 77 died peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday evening June 7, 2013 at Agrace HospiceCare Inc. in Fitchburg, WI. Ron was born on Oct. 4, 1935 in Chicago, IL the son of Henry & Viola (Kuensting) Blume. He was united in marriage to JoAnne Rezabek on Nov. 25, 1972 in Evanston, IL.
Ron graduated from Loyola Academy and worked in the Chicago area at several art studios, ad agencies, as an Art Director for Playboy as well as freelance work before moving to Fennimore, WI in 1995. Ron then worked for Lands End Corp. in Dodgeville, WI before retiring in 2004. He loved to travel the countryside with his wife JoAnne; taking pictures along the way and sharing the memories made with friends and family through his online blog and annual holiday newsletter. He was a life long Cubs fan and also enjoyed playing golf and working the daily crossword puzzle, making sure to always use pen. Ron’s unique sense of humor and positive outlook on life will be greatly cherished. When answering the questions, “what’s your name and when’s your birthday”, may Ron’s memory bring a smile to your face.
Ron is survived by his loving wife JoAnne of Fennimore, his five children; Richard (Sachiko) Blume of San Jose, CA, Elaine Lee of Mt. Prospect, IL, Veronica Blume of Mountain Home, AR, Derek (Jeanna) Blume of Evansville, WI, Summer (Reid) Nimz of Richfield, MN, ten Grandchildren; Rey, Mina, and Roy Blume, Elizabeth and Catherine Lee, Harrison Blume, Saffron and Sebastian Blume, Eddie and Edith Nimz, and a sister Mary (Jim) Bender of Wood Dale, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday June 12, 2013 at the Hickory Grove Lutheran Church in Hickory Grove Township Grant Co., WI with burial of his cremated remains to follow at a later date. Pastor Mark Kufahl will be officiating. A visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 P.M. on Tuesday afternoon June 11, 2013 at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore and from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at the church on Wednesday morning. In lieu of plants and flowers a memorial fund is being established in loving memory of Ronald F. Blume.
