Fennimore – Marcella B. Smith, age 100 passed away on Wednesday morning June 12, 2013 at Orchard Manor in Lancaster, WI. Marcella was born May 15, 1913 in Cassville, WI the daughter of Benjamin and Margaret (Wunderlin) Wiest. She married Donald Smith on Sept. 23, 1931.
Marcella adored her children and took great pride in raising her family. She loved family gatherings with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a faithful servant of the Lord as a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fennimore. Marcella loved attending religious retreats at the National Shrine of our Lady of the Snows in Belleville, IL. She was also very proud of her mission work. Marcella had made, with a special touch of her love, over 15,000 rosaries that were distributed. She also enjoyed going fishing, playing cards, crocheting and knitting. Marcella’s generous heart and the love shown to her family will be deeply cherished forever.
Marcella is survived by her children David (Jacque) Smith of Montfort and Mary Thornton of Marietta, GA, 24 grandchildren, several great and great-great grandchildren, and daughter-in-laws; Betty Smith of Fennimore and Kathy (Tim) Tiffany of Lodi.
Marcella was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald on Nov. 4, 1980, five sons; Larry, Jack, James, Donnie Jr., and infant son Joseph, six daughters; Darlene Karasek, Betty Bandekow, Linda Kirchefer, Annette Dobson, Patricia Smith, and infant daughter Marcella, brothers; Maynard, Ralph, Lawrence, and LaVerne Wiest, and sisters; Mildred Ertz and Catherine Pagenkopf.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday June 15, 2013 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fennimore with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Father Miguel Galvez will be officiating. A visitation will be held from 8:30 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. in the church hall on Saturday morning with a Parish Rosary to follow.
