Laurence E. Hoffman

Fennimore, WI – Laurence E. Hoffman, age 89, of Fennimore passed away on Thursday December 13, 2012 at the Larson House in Columbus.   Laurence was born on Sept. 27, 1923 in Fennimore, WI the son of Aloysius and Mary (Johnson) Hoffman. He married Jeanne Cunningham-Napp on Oct. 27, 1956.

Following graduation from Fennimore High School, Larry worked on the family farm until purchasing it from his parents.  In 1968, Larry sold the farm and went to work for Chrysler Corporation in Belvedere, IL until his retirement in 1988.  Larry returned to Fennimore where he was the caretaker of Prairie Cemetery in Fennimore for 14 years and St Mary’s Cemetery for six years.  He always believed in an honest day of work and stayed busy doing odd jobs throughout the community for people in need.  In recent years, Larry moved to Columbus to be closer to his daughter. Larry was dedicated to his Lord and the church. He will be deeply missed by all his family and friends.

Larry is survived by his two children; Terri (Kent) Price of Columbus and Mike (Adele) Hoffman of Madison, AL, three grandchildren; Jeanne Price, and Kyle and Grace Hoffman, four step-children; James (Mary) Napp of Lancaster, Jeff (Cherie) Napp of Westfield, Jan (Turk) Rogers of Lodi, and Julie (Dan) Burns of Appleton, and three sisters-in-law; Beverly (Ben) Hoffman, Clara (Paul) Hoffman, and Elizabeth (Robert) Hoffman.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters; Agnes, Rosemary, Marcella and Dorothy, and four brothers; Paul, Raymond, Ben and Robert.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday Dec. 17, 2012 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fennimore with burial to follow in the Church Cemetery.  Father Miguel Galvez will be officiating.  Friends may call from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service on Monday morning at St. Mary’s Catholic Church Hall. A Parish Rosary service will be held prior to visitation at 9:00 A.M. in the Church Hall. In lieu of plants and flowers a memorial fund is being established in loving memory of Larry E. Hoffman.
