Mark M. Freymiller

Mark M. Freymiller, age 84 of Fennimore, passed away peacefully on Saturday Dec. 15, 2012 at Manor Care in Platteville with his loving wife Evelyn and daughter Patrice at his side.  Mark was born March 7, 1928 in Marion Township, Grant Co., WI the son of Lou and Elizabeth (Bender) Freymiller. He married Evelyn Kay Haskins on Nov. 15, 1955.

Mark was confirmed at the Marion Church in Woodman and graduated from 8th grade at the Werley School.  He worked on the family farm and played minor league baseball in Florida before serving his country from 1951-1953 during the Korean War.  After the war, Mark and Evelyn were married and they took over the family farm until moving into Fennimore in 1975. Mark became an insurance agent for Bloomington Farmer’s Mutual Insurance until his retirement in 2000. He was very active throughout the community as a member of Kiwanis, American Legion, County Commander, Unity Commander, and President of Marion Church Council.  During his retirement Mark enjoyed fishing, hunting, umpiring softball and always looked forward to watching his grandchildren participate in sports and other activities.  Mark was proud to have visited every state but one and was known for his love of dancing.  He was a member of many card clubs throughout the years and always had time for one more game of cards.  Mark will be remembered as a kind, loving and generous man who always had a smile on his face and knew how to bring a smile to others as a lifelong practical joker.

Mark is survived by his wife Evelyn of Fennimore, five daughters; Cindra (David) Riemenapp of Mt. Hope, Chyme (Scott) Stimart of Fennimore, Penny (Sam) Morse of Cedar, MN, Patrice (Dan) Thompson of Houston, TX, and Dorinda (Brian) Freymiller-Borowski of Waunakee, eight beloved grandchildren; Mark Eckert of Verona, Miranda Eckert of Dublin, Ireland, Jasmine Ropers of Madison, Courtney (Winder) Fuentes of Brooklyn Park, MN, Sarah Stimart of Madsion, Taylor Morse of Minneapolis, MN, Phoenix and Zander Borowski of Waunakee, two great-grandchildren; Amaya Ropers of Madsion, and Corwin Fuentes of Brooklyn Park, MN four sisters; Bernadine (Herman) Wachter of Woodman, Gilda (Loren) Welsh of Prairie do Chien, Darlene Mueller of Prairie du Chien, and Adelia Brechler of Boscobel, a sister-in-law, Eleanor Freymiller of Boscobel, and a brother-in-law Raymond Knoble of Gays Mills, and many nieces and nephews.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers; Edward (Ruby) Freymiller, Harold (Estella) Freymiller, Byron (Betty) Freymiller, Lou Leland (Eleanor) Freymiller, and Lloyd (Sherry) Freymiller, and brothers-in-law; Bernard Moravits, Paul Mueller, Claude Brechler, Gale (Joa) Lester, Benny (Evelyn) Haskins, Robert (Ardith) Haskins, and Lois (Ray) Knoble.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday Dec. 19, 2012 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Fennimore with Pastor Barbara Dunlap-Wolfe officiating.  Burial with military honors will follow in the Prairie Cemetery.  A visitation will be held from 4-8:00 PM on Tuesday evening Dec. 18, 2012 at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church on Wednesday morning.
