
Fennimore, WI-Marcella Geraldine Johnston, age 90, of Fennimore passed away on Tuesday morning Dec. 11, 2012 at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. Marcella was born on May 2, 1922 in Castle Rock Township, Grant Co., WI the daughter of Martin & Stella (Broaden) Larson. She was united in marriage to R. Paul Johnston on Nov. 1, 1941 in Dubuque, IA. Marcella and Paul were engaged in farming and Marcella also worked at the Montfort Meat Packing Plant and the Cobb Canning Factory until moving to Fennimore in 1967. She then worked for the Fennimore School District as a cook for 23 years until retiring in 1990. Marcella was an active member of the Castle Rock Lutheran Church and the W.E.L.C.A.
Marcella is survived by her three children; Paulette Johnston of Santa Fe, NM, Larry (Vickie) Johnston of Prescott, AZ, Sandra Simpson of Madison, two grandchildren; Todd (Coudy) Johnston, and Tanya (Wakelin) Stoneman, four step grandchildren; Dellynn Dunn, Daniel (Joy) Willett, and Derrick (Shasta) Willet Chuck Simpson, four great grandchildren; Joshua and Rachele Johnston, and Rylee and Chase Stoneman, eight step great grandchildren; Aiden, Kian, Sylas Dunn, Tia, Ranan, and Ethan Willett, Dane and Bailee Willett, two brother-in-laws; Paul Hinson of Circle Pines, MN, and George Johnston of Hoodsport, WA along with several nieces and nephews.
Marcella was preceded in death by her parents, husband Paul on Oct. 12, 1993, an infant son Gregory, son-in-law Jim Simpson, two brothers; Vernon and Martin Larson Jr., and three sister-in-laws; Charlotte Larson, Ruth Hinson, and Maxine Johnston.
Honoring Marcella’s wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. A public graveside service and burial of her cremated remains will take place at a later date in the Castle Rock Lutheran Church Cemetery in Hickory Grove Township Grant Co., WI.
