Fennimore, WI-Jody Lynn Solorzano, age 42, of Fennimore lost her courageous battle with cancer surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday morning Oct. 10, 2012 at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster, WI. Jody was a breast cancer survivor, but three years later succumbed to brain cancer. Jody was born on Jan. 18, 1970 in Menomonee Falls, WI the daughter of Jack & Julianne (Johnson) Carlson.
Following graduation from Ellsworth High School, Jody attended Red Wing Technical College where she studied to become a nanny. Later she moved to Concord, CA where she worked as a nanny in addition to working in several day care facilities, and as a teacher at a Montessori School. It was in California where Jody met and later married her husband Jorge Solorzano on Jan. 30, 1993.
In 2002 Jody and her family moved to Fennimore where she furthered her education at Southwest Wisconsin Technical College earning an associate degree in early childcare. Jody worked at a number of childcare facilities in the Fennimore area where she made friends with many of the children’s parents. Her greatest joy came from raising her two children to whom she was exceptionally close. Jody always looked for opportunities to help others and loved making special greeting cards for special occasions. She was blessed to be a member of “Friends in Faith”, a group of adults from the Fennimore United Methodist Church.
Jody was endeared to the Fennimore community due to their outpouring of love and generosity as witnessed during the Solorzano Benefit. Recently, in spite of her illness, she planned to support the Luther Leaguer’s mission trip to New Orleans in July as a chaperone. Unfortunately, she wasn’t strong enough to join the group.
Jody is survived by her beloved husband; Jorge of Fennimore, two children; Amberly and Jack Soloranzo both at home, parents; Jack and Julianne Carlson of Stitzer; sister; Liz (Tom) Heberlein of Fennimore, and nephews; Miles, Joe, Hans, and Louis Heberlein.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday Oct. 15, 2012 at the Fennimore United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Ebenezer Cemetery, Wingville Twsp. Grant Co., WI. Friends may call from 2-6:00 P.M. on Sunday afternoon Oct. 14, 2012 at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church on Monday morning. In lieu of plants and flowers memorials may be given in loving memory of Jody Solorzano.
