Irene Udelhofen

Montfort, WI-Irene Udelhofen, age 89 died on Sunday morning Sept. 1, 2013 at the University Hospital in Madison, WI. Irene was born on Sept. 28, 1923 in Liberty Township Grant Co., WI the daughter of Adolf & Selma (Wagner) Lenz. Irene graduated from Fennimore High School and then went to Chicago and graduated from a short hand school. She was employed in Chicago for four years until returning to Wisconsin and being employed at the County Agent Office in Lancaster. Irene also worked for the Wisconsin State Capital and the University of Wisconsin for 5 years until her marriage. Irene was united in marriage to Charles Udelhofen on Aug. 7, 1957 in Potosi, WI and then moved to Cumberland where she worked for CESA Agency for 20 years. After her retirement, Irene moved to Montfort in 1991. She was a member of the St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, the Dixon Busy Fingers and the Grant Co. Homemakers. Irene love playing cards and socializing with neighbors and friends and was a very caring aunt that was deeply cherished by her family. Irene’s caretakers; Betty, Jody, and Alicia will always be remembered for their wonderful compassion given to our Aunt Irene.

Irene is survived by a sister-in-law; Barbara Lenz of Fennimore, her special nieces and nephews; Carol (Harry) Kreul of Fennimore, David (Theresa) Lenz of Dodgeville, Linda (Graham) Terry of Viroqua, John (Joanne) Lenz of Mossy Rock, WA, Sue Frey of DeForest, Jerry (Robin) Lenz of Fennimore, Royce (LeAnn) Brechler of Stevens Point, Glenn Brechler of Madison, Sharon Campbell of Onalaska, Bruce Brechler of Belleville, and 18 great nieces and nephews.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents; husband Charles Udelhofen in1986, two brothers; Lloyd Lenz and Fred (Muriel) Lenz, and a sister Lorraine (Robert) Brechler and a nephew Michael Campbell.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday Sept. 4, 2013 at the Soman-Larson Funeral Home in Montfort with burial in the St. Paul’s United Church of Christ Cemetery in Liberty Township Grant Co., WI. Pastor Martin Yeager will be officiating. Friends may call from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at the funeral home on Wednesday morning.
