Francis J. Wunderlin

Cobb, WI-Francis J. “Fran” Wunderlin, age 77, died on Tuesday April 11, 2017 at his residence in Cobb. Fran was born on Aug. 26, 1939 in LaFayette, Co., WI the son of Ralph & Velma (Pluemer) Wunderlin. He was united in marriage to Delia (Anderson) Thompson on Oct. 21, 1977 in Dodgeville.

Fran graduated from Livingston High School in 1958 and then went to work for the Livingston Co-Op Oil Company. In 1967, he operated the Elmo Club in Cuba City until purchasing Platteville Liquor Store. Wanting to return to the bar business, Fran purchased the bar in Cobb, the Wunder Inn, while employed with the Oconomowoc Canning Factory as a field man. He then sold the bar and went to work for the City of Dodgeville Parks Dept. for 16 years. Fran was an active member of the Cobb Lions Club, and enjoyed bowling, fishing, and hunting. He also loved sports, especially fast pitch softball, and was always asked to pitch in the old-timer tournaments. Fran loved spending time with family and friends and supporting his grandchildren at their sporting events. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, quick wit and infectious laugh. As Fran would say, “you’re worth a million bucks”.

Fran is survived by his loving wife Delia “Dee” of Cobb, children; Dawn (Bill) Lee of Rewey, Todd Wunderlin of Cottage Grove, Mark Wunderlin of Dodgeville, Renee (Craig) Stephenson of Sun Prairie, Cory Wunderlin of Madison, Lance Thompson of Camp Lejeune, NC, step children; Dan (Patrice) Thompson of Houston, TX, Francis Thompson of Cobb, nine grandchildren; Travis (Rachel) Lee, Leslie (Dan) Lehman, Stevie (Carsen) Erickson, Celina (Fiancé Curt Goodman) Wunderlin, Ian (Jennifer) Wunderlin, Alan Wunderlin, Caleb and Trevor Wunderlin, Bracken Stephenson, great grandchildren; Presley and Atley Lehman, Harper and Maddix Lee, baby Erickson arriving in June, and David Goodman, siblings; Carol (Richard) Campbell of Cobb, Joan (Denny) Millard of Dodgeville, Ken (Evie) Wunderlin of Livingston, Kathy Lenz of Cobb, Robert “Bob” (Sherry) Wunderlin of Madison sister-in-laws, Sandy Wunderlin of Livingston, Rebecca Anderson and Susan Anderson both of Monona, brother-in-law Rev. Milo “Ken” (Rosalie) Anderson of Cyprus, CA, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Fran was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Mervin Wunderlin.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday April 15, 2017 at the Soman-Larson Funeral Home in Montfort with burial to follow in the Rock Church Cemetery rural Livingston. Visitation will be held from 4-7:00 P.M. on Friday afternoon April 14, 2017 at the Soman-Larson Funeral Home in Montfort and from 10:00 A.M. until time of service on Saturday.
