Lancaster- Florence Heberlein, age 89, of Lancaster and formerly of Stitzer died on Friday morning Sept. 6, 2013 at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. Florence was born on June 2, 1924 in Cassville, WI the daughter of Charles and Mary (Breuer) Hampton. She married Reuben Heberlein on Jan 29, 1945 in Fennimore.
Florence was a very hard worker who enjoyed working next her husband each day on the farm. She also cleaned homes for area elderly and bachelors and loved to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Florence liked to write, so she began reporting the Stitzer area news, which was published weekly in the Herald Independent newspaper in Lancaster. She became very fond of strawberries and this grew into such a large collection that it was a featured story in the local newspapers. Florence enjoyed dancing, singing, playing cards with neighbors and friends, crossword puzzles, writing in her daily journal, and picking blackberries. Florence was a wonderful cook whose Grandma Dip, Grandma Bars, and banana bread were the best. She believed in strong family values that she demonstrated each day. Her family and friends will forever cherish her special sense of humor and quick responses.
Florence is survived by her children; Diane Holloway of Madison, Marlene (Ben) Nickel of Madison, Kathy (Ron) Hilleshiem of Madison, and Roger (Diane) Heberlein of Lancaster, daughter-in-law Fran Parks of Dubuque, IA, ten grandchildren; Brad, Bryce and Krista Parks, Jeff and Patrick Holloway, Rhonda and Mathew Hilleshiem, and Scott, Tesha, and Ryan Heberlein, seven great granddaughters & two great grandsons, sister Carol Moris of Bloomington, sister-in-law Irene Vesperman of Lancaster, and several special nieces and nephews.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents, husband Reuben on August 4, 1993, son Robert Parks, son-in-law Dan Holloway, and eight siblings.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday Sept 10, 2013 at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Liberty Township, Grant Co., WI with burial to follow in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4-8:00 P.M. on Monday evening Sept. 9, 2013 at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church on Tuesday morning. A memorial fund is being established in loving memory of Florence Heberlein.
