June E. Cottingham

June CottinghamFennimore – June E. Cottingham, age 90 of Fennimore died on Thursday morning Sept. 5, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Society in Fennimore. June was born on June 2, 1923 in Annaton, WI the daughter of Donald & Thelma (Morse) Loy. She was united in marriage to Leonard Cottingham on May 16, 1942 in Dodgeville.

June graduated from Livingston High School in 1940. She then went to work for the Fennimore Telephone Co. as a switchboard operator for several years.  After being a homemaker for a few years, June became employed at Fennimore High School in the food service program for 20 years until retiring in the mid 1980’s. June loved to cook, especially making her delicious graham cracker crème pies, and crème puffs. She also enjoyed canning, playing cards, taking trips with her family, and visiting on the phone with her family and friends. She will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor and always enjoyed a good laugh.  She truly cherished life with her beloved family and friends and will be deeply missed.

June is survived by her husband Leonard of Fennimore, two children; Gary (Carole) Cottingham of Geneva, IL, Phyllis Wenzel of Waunakee, four grandchildren; Nancy (Bret) Brainerd, Staci (Cleven) McChesney, Marc Cottingham, Steven Cottingham, two great grandchildren; Molly & Charlie McChesney and a step great grand-daughter; Abby Unten, sister; Marcheta Ross of St. Paul, MN, three sister-in-laws; Audrey Loy of Livingston, Charlotte Loy of Mount Horeb, Sandy Cottingham of Green Bay, and several special nieces & nephews.

June was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers; Dean, Morse and Donald Loy, two brother-in-laws; Donald Cottingham and Ed Ross, and three sister-in-laws; Phyllis, Mary Jeanette, and Margie Loy.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday Sept. 9, 2013 at the Fennimore United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Prairie Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4 – 6:00 P.M. on Sunday evening Sept. 8, 2013 at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the Church on Monday morning.
