BLOOMINGTON - Donna Knapp, age 70, passed away on Sunday March 3, surrounded by her daughters and loved ones. She battled cancer over the last 9 months and proved to be a warrior in her fight.
Donna was born on January 9, 1954; the daughter of Catherine and James Ley, in Prairie Du Chien. She graduated from Cassville High School in 1972. It was not until the 1980’s when she met the love of her life and married Jim Knapp in 1985. They are now reunited with their love in heaven.
Donna could be described as one of the most caring and selfless people in the world. She was always taking care of others. Nobody ever left Donna’s house hungry or feeling sad. She always kept ice cream, burgers, and cheesy potatoes on hand for whoever came over. However, the best word or describe her would be Grandma. It was what she did best. Supporting, teaching, listening, feeding, embracing, and taking care of her eight grandchildren.
Her kind soul and spirit will be missed every day.
She is survived by her children: Jody (Joey) Morrow, Janna (Josh) Habeck, and Amy Otte plus her precious grandchildren Austin, Aidan, Avery, Alec, Axel, Emmi, Eley, and Sunshine; her father, Jim Ley; sister, Bev (Denny) Cathman; siblings: twin brother, Dave (Deb) Ley, Gene (Terri) Ley, Pat (Cindy) Ley, Bill (Jackie) Ley, Rick (Julie) Ley, and Jay (Bobby) Ley; mother in-law, Evelyn "Skip" Knapp; and several brother and sister in-laws along with many nieces and nephews.
Donna was predeceased by her husband, Jim Knapp; mother, Catherine Ley; her brother Mike; father in-law, Gerald Knapp; and sister-in-law Becky Nies.
