Richard J. “Dick” Tallman

MONTFORT - Richard J. “Dick” Tallman, age 76, passed away on Friday evening March 1, 2024, at St Mary’s Hospital in Madison, WI. He was born on July 20, 1947, in Dodgeville, WI; the son of Adrian and Edna (Kosharek) Tallman. He was united in marriage to Sandi Roberts on December 4, 1971, at the St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Mineral Point, WI.

Dick graduated from Mineral Point High School in 1965. He enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving in Germany until his honorable discharge. He then began working in construction on a pole barn crew. In 1976, he started his own business, Tallman Construction Company, specializing in residential building and remodeling. He operated his business with hard work, great pride, and loved the relationships established with his customers. He was well respected for the level of detail and perfection he strived for in his work. He operated his business until retiring in 2020.

Dick had fond memories of his youth and being raised on the farm with his three brothers. He was a proud father of his four girls and especially adored his grandchildren. Dick was a man of faith with a heart of gold and was always the first to be there when needed. Dick loved watching his grandchildren’s endeavors, along with the Green Bay Packers and the Wisconsin Badgers. He was never too busy to stop what he was doing to listen and give invaluable advice or take a road trip just to keep someone company.

Dick was a member of the Linden American Legion along with being a past board member of the Eden Township. He will be remembered for that twinkle in his eye and his love for snacks.

Dick is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Sandi Tallman of Montfort; four daughters: Lisa (Tim) Lundell of Livingston, Angie (Bryon) Schroeder of Rewey, Jessica (Josh)  Munson of Montfort, and Klara (John) Jelle of Livingston; 11 grandchildren: Sydney, Reid, and Sam Lundell, Kassidy and Cameron Schroeder, Kenadie, Gabby and Owen Munson, and Adriana, Josie, and Zayden Jelle; brother, Patrick (Barb) Tallman of Ames, IA; sister-in-law, Judy Tallman in Clinton; mother-in-law, June Goninen of Livingston; along with many special brothers and sisters-in-laws and their families.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Ronald; and brothers, Gene and Adrian Tallman Jr., father-in-law Hayden Roberts and step father-in-law Alvin Goninen.
