Arlyn Keith Henkel

Arlyn HenkelFennimore – Arlyn Keith Henkel, age 68 passed away unexpectedly at his residence in rural Fennimore on Saturday Feb. 16, 2013.  Arlyn was born on Aug. 9, 1944 in Lancaster, WI the son of Harold and Jean (Draves) Henkel.  He married Eileen Block on Aug. 8, 1964 at Bethlehem E&R Church in Lancaster.

Arlyn graduated from Fennimore High School in the class of 1962. Following high school, Arlyn and Eileen lived in Madison for 10 years where he worked at Madison Kip Corporation for five years and then Gardner’s Bakery for five years.  In October of 1972, Arlyn moved to the farm outside of Fennimore. Arlyn was “Truly a Farmer” who was never ready to retire and loved working with his family, land, and livestock.  He was also a District Rep. for Swiss Valley for many years. Arlyn believed in strong family values; providing for his wife and children while adoring his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed bowling, going to Hawaii and Branson, and rooting for all Wisconsin sports teams.  Arlyn’s wonderful sense of humor, twinkle in his eye, and devotion to his family and friends will be cherished forever.

Arlyn is survived by his beloved wife Eileen of Fennimore, four children; Kendall (Lisa) Henkel of Stitzer, Troy Henkel of Fennimore, Devanie (Bradley) Wells of Fennimore, and Shannon (Carina) Henkel of Fennimore, 10 grandchildren; Heather, Natasha and Kendrick, Ashley, Hollie, and Colton, Allison and Kaitlyn, and Brooklyn and Brock, 5 great-grandchildren; Gabriela, Griffin, Nova, Korbin, Tucker, and one to be expected.  Arlyn is also survived by five brothers; Terry Henkel of Marengo, IL, Barrie (Sue) Henkel of Crystal Lake, IL, Ardell (Sandy) Henkel, Navarre (Jane) Henkel, and Jeff (Donna) Henkel all of Fennimore, brother & sister-in-laws; Richard Crubaugh of Madison, Rosell (Marilyn) Kephart of Fennimore, and Douglas (Shirley) Block of DeForest, and several nieces and nephews

Arlyn was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Desiree Henkel, father & mother-in-law; LeRoy and Marjorie Block, brother and sister-in-laws; William (Shirley) Block, Shirley Crubaugh and Barbara Henkel, and nephew, Gregory Kephart.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday Feb. 20, 2013 at the Bethlehem E&R Church in Lancaster with burial to follow in the Hillside Cemetery.  Friends and family may call from 4-8:00 P.M. on Tuesday evening Feb. 19, 2013 at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church on Wednesday morning.  In Lieu of plants and flowers a memorial fund is being established in loving memory of Arlyn K. Henkel.
