Anton O. Weigel

Anton WeigelMontfort – Anton Otto Weigel, age 72 passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday morning Feb 12, 2013 after complications of congestive heart failure.  Anton was born Dec. 26, 1940 in Lancaster, WI the son of Harold and Lola (Grindeman) Weigel.  He married Ellen Dietzman on Oct. 14, 1967. They had seven children together, and a lifetime of memories.

Anton graduated from Montfort High School and attended The University of Wisconsin – Platteville for two years before returning to the family farm. He was a lifelong farmer.

Anton is survived by his loving wife Ellen, sons; Eric (Kari Ann) Weigel, Kent (Dorothy) Weigel, daughters; Kelly (Steve) Meyer, Carrie Weigel, Nora (Chuck) Mark, Rebecca (John) Patterson, Gail (Matt) Butteris, 14 grandchildren, siblings; Mary (Charles) Murray, Richard (Susan) Weigel, Neva (Bob) Omberg, John Weigel, Jane (Buck) Howery, aunt Maxine Grindeman, and many nieces and nephews.

Anton was preceded in death by his mother Lola in 1984, his father Harold in 1994, and an infant brother Mark.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday Feb. 16, 2013 at the Montfort United Methodist Church in Montfort with burial of cremated remains to follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery.  A visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church on Saturday morning.  In lieu of plants and flowers a memorial fund is being established in loving memory of Anton O.
