Arlene M. Wackershauser

Glen Haven, WI-Arlene M. Wackershauser, age 94, of Glen Haven, died on Saturday Jan. 12, 2019, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home in rural Lancaster. She was born on Jan. 13, 1924, in Cassvillle, the daughter of Leo and Anna (Dresen) Adrian. On May 7, 1946, Arlene was united in marriage to Embert F. “Wack” Wackershauser at St. Charles Parsonage in Cassville.

Together, Arlene and Embert operated Breeze Inn in Cassville for a few years. In 1951, they owned and operated Wackershauser Tavern in Glen Haven until 1985. Arlene was an excellent cook and baker. She will be remembered for her wonderful pies, and awesome cookies. She also enjoyed embroidering, quilting, and fishing the riverbanks. Arlene loved spending time with her family and greatly adored her time spent with her grandchildren. She had been currently residing at Orchard Manor since 2014 and greatly appreciated the wonderful care that she received throughout the past years.

Arlene is survived by her children; Bette Ann Hoffman of Lancaster, Connie (John) Horkheimer of Bloomington, and Bruce (Bonnie Dailey) Wackershauser of Glen Haven, eight grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren along with her sister Geraldine (Joe) Schaal of Cassville and many special nieces and nephews.

Arlene was preceded death by her parents, husband Embert on March 22, 2011, son-in-law Jerry Hoffman, and her seven siblings; Lyle, Duane, Leo Jr. and Patrick Adrian, Delores (Carl) Mumm, Roselyn (Tom) Connolly and Marcella Wood.

Memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday Jan. 17, 2019 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Glen Haven with burial to follow in the Charlotte Cemetery, Glen Haven Township. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until time of service at the church on Thursday morning. The Larson Family Funeral Home of Fennimore is assisting the family.
