Gean A. Critchlow

Lancaster-On January 11, 2019 Gean A. Critchlow lost his 3 ½ year battle with cancer. Gean was born to Charles and Ruth (Allbee) Critchlow on March 31, 1953 in Prairie du Chien.

He graduated from Bloomington High School in 1971. He then attended Southwest Technical College in Fennimore, and met Pam Martin. They were united in marriage on June 14, 1975 at the Lancaster United Methodist Church. Gean was an active member with the West Grant Rescue Squad and the Bloomington Fire Department until 1976. He worked for John Deere of Dubuque for 35 years, where he ran the lasers and built booms for the backhoes. After retirement, Gean drove truck for Premier Co-op of Bloomington.

Gean enjoyed spending time on his childhood farm getting all of his dad’s old John Deere tractors running. He volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America Troop 88/Pac 66 for over 30 years. Gean was a very talented woodworker and enjoyed sharing his talents. He loved camping, fishing and hunting. He was a lifetime member of the Bloomington Sports Club. Most of all, Gean enjoyed spending time with his two grandchildren, Jackson and Jenna. He was always willing to challenge friends with a rowdy card game.

Gean is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Pam of Lancaster, two children; Andrea (Rob) Block and Kevin (Heather) Critchlow both of Lancaster, two grandchildren; Jackson and Jenna Block, mother Ruth Critchlow of Bloomington, sister Linda (Bill) Biggin of Texas, and many special nieces, nephews, and several dear friends.

Gean was preceded in death by his father Charles W. Critchlow in 2000 and his brother Charles F. Critchlow in 2017.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday Jan. 16, 2019 at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore with burial to follow in the Hillside Cemetery in Lancaster. Visitation will be held from 3-7:00 P.M. on Tuesday Jan. 15, 2019 at the Larson Family Funeral Home and from 10:00 A.M. until time of service on Wednesday morning.
