Eleanora “Ellie” Larson, age 95, of Menomonie, WI passed away Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012 at the American Lutheran Home in Menomonie, with hospice.
The former Eleanora Anna Scheel was born May 29, 1917 in the Town of Sherman, Dunn Co. WI to Carl and Effie (Schultz) Scheel.
On April 9, 1937, Ellie married George Larson at Peace Lutheran Church in Menomonie and celebrated their 75th anniversary this past April. They owned and operated the Tramway store (known as Larson’s Grocery) located at the intersection of Highway 12 and 79, west of Menomonie. Ellie also worked for Farmers Mutual Insurance Company in Menomonie for a number of years, until retirement.
Ellie was a former member the Women of the Moose Chapter 682, and Ellie and George were long time members of Christ Lutheran Church.
Ellie is survived by her husband of 75 years, George Larson of Menomonie; her children, Larry (Linda) Larson of Fort Walton Beach, FL, Ronald (Gloria) Larson of Menomonie, WI and James (Pat) Larson of Fennimore, WI; ten grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a sister, Agnes Harvey of Colfax, WI; a brother Dennis (June) Scheel of New Prague, MN; and a sister-in-law, Joan Scheel of Menomonie, WI; also survived by other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Effie Scheel; two sisters, Laville Clark and Frances Lerch; a brother, Gerald Scheel; and three brothers-in-law, Mel Clark, Gilbert Harvey and Fred Lerch.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 3, 2012 at Christ Lutheran Church in Menomonie, with Pastor Geoff Scott officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie and at the church one hour prior to the service on Monday. Burial will be in Tramway Cemetery in the Town of Menomonie, Dunn Co. WI.
