Michael D. Lyght, age 57, of Dubuque, IA and formerly of Montfort, WI passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday Nov. 21, 2012 at his residence in Dubuque. He was born March 15, 1955 in Platteville, WI the son of Clifford and Lois (Birch) Lyght.
Michael attended Iowa-Grant High School, graduating in 1973. He grew up in the Livingston/Montfort area before moving to Boscobel where he worked at Milk Specialties until 1996. He then moved to Dubuque, IA and worked for Unique Balance. He enjoyed spending time with his family and sharing the “good old days” with his nieces and nephews Tom, Marc, Kelly, Lisa, Scott, Derek, Tyler, Jordan and Jared who he loved to entertain and make them laugh. He loved kids and was overjoyed at the births of his six great nieces and nephews. He loved living up to the name of “Great” uncle. Mike enjoyed singing karaoke with his family of friends in Dubuque. He was an avid pool player, participating in many tournaments, and took many trips to Las Vegas to watch national competitions. Mike was a member of the Masonic Temple. Mike, you left our world but will never leave our hearts. You will forever be loved and greatly missed, but never forgotten!
Mike is survived by his mother, Lois Lyght of Boscobel, sisters; Lana McVay of Appleton, Kitti (Eric) Richter of Neenah, Kathy (Jerry) Bray, and Judy Lyght both of Boscobel, brothers; Gil (Dixie) of Waunakee, Jay (Mary) of Ft. Wayne, IN, Brad (Lisa) of Deerfield, IL and Todd of Boscobel.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, Clifford, brothers; Stephen, Larry, Alan, and sisters; Barbara and Jill, his maternal and paternal grandparents, nephews Danny and Chad Potter. He also left behind his best friend Lisa and her husband Wayne, and a large family of friends in Dubuque.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 P.M on Sunday Nov. 25, 2012 at the Soman-Larson Funeral Home in Montfort with a lunch to follow at Tower Junction in Montfort. Friends and family may call from 11:30 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon. Burial of cremated remains will follow at a later date in the Rock Church Cemetery, rural Livingston.
