Renee L. (Prochaska) Martie, age 45 of Mineral Point, WI and formerly of Fennimore, WI died unexpectedly on Friday Nov.30, 2012 at her residence in Mineral Point. Renee was born on April 23, 1967 in Lancaster, WI the daughter of Raymond and Betty (Stephenson) Prochaska. On May 16, 1998 she married Scott Martie in Hollandale, WI.
Renee graduated from Fennimore High School in 1985 where she excelled in athletics and received all conference honors in basketball. Following graduation she attended UW La Crosse until moving to Maryland. After returning to the area, Renee worked at various places and had been currently waitressing at Schubert’s in Mt. Horeb. Renee enjoyed crafts, gardening, making floral pieces for family and friends, and cooking. She also loved training dogs, especially Chocolate Labs. Renee will be remembered for trying to make the people around her feel special and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Renee is survived by her daughter Mackenzie of Mineral Point; brother, Jeff Prochaska of Fennimore, three sisters; Cindy (John) Wiles of Leaf River, IL, Jane (Pat) Berkovitz of Windsor, WI, and Lori (Jeff) Vesperman of Fennimore; nine nieces and nephews and 16 great nieces and nephews; along with Mackenzie’s father Scott Martie of Mineral Point; and her special dog Miko.
Renee was preceded in death by her father Raymond on July 21, 2008, and her mother Betty on Nov. 30, 2011, also her paternal grandparents Vandy & Esther Prochaska, and maternal grandparents Reynold & Sylvia Stephenson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday Dec. 5, 2012 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Fennimore with burial to follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Church Cemetery in Fennimore. Pastor Charles Miller will be officiating. Friends may call from 4-8:00 P.M. on Tuesday Dec. 4, 2012 at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church on Wednesday morning.
