
Fennimore, WI – Robert F. Hoffman, age 87, of Fennimore passed away peacefully on Monday December 3, 2012 at Boscobel Area Health Care surrounded by his loving family. Robert, affectionately called Bob by family and friends, was born on June 21, 1925 in Fennimore, WI the son of Aloysius and Mary (Johnson) Hoffman. Robert Married Elizabeth Barbara Riemenapp on June 1, 1949 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fennimore.
Following graduation from Fennimore High School, Robert enlisted in the U.S. Navy in Nov. 1944. He proudly served aboard the U.S.S. Amphion until being honorably discharged in July 1946. After returning home from the service, Robert farmed for several years before becoming a Rural Letter Carrier in Mt. Hope in Jan. 1961, retiring in June 1991. Upon retirement, Robert and Elizabeth moved to Apache Junction, AZ, returning to Fennimore in June 2005. Robert enjoyed golfing, shooting pool, playing cards, working on projects, and rooting on the Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers. He was an active member for many years with the Mt. Hope Legion, Mt. Hope Volunteer Fire Department, and the West Grant Lions Club.
Robert is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, eight children; James (Pamela) of Austin, MN, Patrick (Julie) of Fennimore, Barbara (Richard) Nies of Beaver Dam, Linda (Richard) Nechvatal of Verona, Carol (Rob Disque) of Divide, CO, Joseph (Catherine) of Mt. Hope, Jerry (Betty) of Spanish Fort, AL, and Mary (Mark) Kellogg of Amery. Robert is also survived by twenty-one grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, a brother Larry, and two sisters-in-law; Beverly (Ben) Hoffman and Clara (Paul) Hoffman.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters; Agnes, Rosemary, Marcella and Dorothy, three brothers; Paul, Raymond and Benjamin, father and mother-in-law Clement and Elizabeth Reimenapp, and brother-in-law Vernon Reimenapp.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday Dec. 7, 2012 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fennimore with burial to follow in the Church Cemetery with military honors. Father Miguel Galvez will be officiating. Friends may call from 4-8:00 P.M. on Thursday evening Dec. 6, 2012 at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore. A Parish Rosary service will be held at 3:30 P.M. prior to visitation at the funeral home. In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials may be given to the Fennimore Rescue Squad in loving memory of Robert F. Hoffman.
