
Thelma S. Cook, age 94 of Fennimore, died on Wednesday evening Dec. 11, 2013 at Boscobel Care and Rehabilitation in Boscobel. Thelma was born on Sept. 5, 1919 in Shullsburg, WI the daughter of Chester and Elizabeth (Laird) Trebilcock. She married Harold Lamont Cook on Sept. 7, 1939 in Valparaiso, Indiana.
Thelma loved life on the farm. She and Lamont farmed in rural Shullsburg until moving to Fennimore in 1953. They continued farming in Wingville Township Grant Co. until 1978. Thelma remained on the farm until moving to the Boscobel Nursing Home in 2008. She was a member of the Fennimore United Methodist Church and the Easter Star. Thelma was a very hard worker who enjoyed the outdoors, whether working in the fields, with livestock, or just listening to nature. She enjoyed working with her hands especially painting pictures and ceramics, and cooking and baking. Thelma dedicated herself to her family and her Lord. She read the Bible often, taught Sunday school, and adored her family, especially her grandchildren.
Thelma is survived by her three sons; Earl (Carol) Cook of Sioux Falls, SD, David (Pastor Barbara) Cook of Lancaster, and Paul (Cheryl) Cook of Wichita, KS, four grandchildren; Sandra (Tim) Meeker of Waunakee, Brent (Tina) Cook of Harrisburg, SD, Lauren Cook and Brett Cook both of Wichita, KS, four great grandchildren; Kailee, Aimee, Emilee Meeker and Breydon Cook, and a sister Zelda Bruun of Platteville.
Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harold Lamont Cook on Feb. 8, 2003, sister Eva Skinrood, and her twin sister Elma Leone Trebilcock, and a brother John “Jack” Trebilcock.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday Dec. 16, 2013 at the Fennimore United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Ebenezer Cemetery in Wingville Township, Grant Co., WI. Rev. Duane Andrus will be officiating. A visitation will be held from 4-8:00 P.M. on Sunday Dec. 15, 2013 at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore where an Eastern Star service will be held at 8:00 P.M. Sunday evening.
