Shirley Louise Wienkes

FENNIMORE – Shirley Louise Wienkes, age 81, passed away on Friday September 20, 2024, at Orchard Manor in Lancaster. She was born on August 17, 1943; the daughter of Floyd and Alice (Cohen) Hore.

Shirley Graduated from Iowa-Grant Highschool in 1961 and married her beloved husband, Ralph Wienkes on December 27, 1961, at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Montfort. Together, they spent 17 years farming just outside of Fennimore. In addition to her work on the farm, Shirley dedicated about 10 years babysitting, nurturing, and caring for many children. She had a natural gift for creating a warm and welcoming home where many lasting memories were made. Shirley was passionate about cooking and baking. She loved to spend hours and hours in the kitchen.

Shirley is survived by her husband of 62 years, Ralph; niece, Bobbie Jo Rider; sister in-law, Carolyn (Jerome) Winters; brother in-law, Andrew Prem; brother in-law, Richard (Nancy) Wienkes; and many other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; mother and father in-law, Ben and Minnie Wienkes; sister, Marion Rider; sister in-law, Rosemary Prem; brother in-law, Jerry Rider; and nephews, Robert Prem and Chad Wienkes.
