Rick L. Slack, 75, of Livingston, WI passed away on August 11, 2019 surrounded by family. He was born to parents Raymond and Anita (Noble) Slack on May 4, 1944 in Platteville, WI.
Rick graduated from Iowa-Grant High School in 1962. After high school he worked for Chicago Northwest Railroad for five years. Rick married Karen Nodolf on June 5, 1965 at Peace Lutheran Church in Platteville, WI.
Rick drove truck for 7-Up, Dell Needham and Sons, and Croft Lime and Gravel. He loved fast-pitch softball and played for many teams throughout the years. Rick was an avid car collector and Elvis Presley fan. He kept the most meticulous lawn in town, and liked to play jokes and pranks on those he loved. Rick had a big heart and he was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He will be missed by many!
Rick is survived by his beloved wife, Karen and his four children; Jon Slack, Todd Slack, Bill (Britney) Slack, and Nikki (Adam Ochab) Slack, six grandchildren; Kyle (Tara Scott) Collins, Sierra Slack, Jordan and Malloy Slack, Breanna (Casey) Radke and Tamarae Towns, three great grandchildren; Launa Collins, Lilly and Layla Radke, three sisters; Laurene Leuth, Ruth (Clarence Fuegen) Dunham, Alyce Popp and one brother; Jack (Jean) Slack along with special nieces, nephews, cousins and was a father figure to Matt Niebuhr.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents, infant great grandchild, Emmie Radke, sisters; Mary (Max) Rosemeyer, Janice (Jim) Morfey, and Patricia (Pat) Ploured, father and mother-in-law; “Shorty” and Ruth Nodolf, brothers-in-law, Gene Leuth, Ed Dunham, and Donald Popp, special nephews, and dear friends; Billy Myers, Rebel Reichers, and Todd Nelson.
The family would like to give special thanks to the wonderful doctors and nurses at Mercy Hospital in Dubuque.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday August 16, 2019 at Soman-Larson Funeral Home in Montfort with burial to follow in the Rock Church Cemetery in rural Livingston, Wisconsin. Visitation will be held from 4-7:00 P.M. on Thursday August 15, 2019 at the Soman-Larson Funeral Home in Montfort and from 10:00 A.M. until time of service on Friday morning. In lieu of plants and flowers a memorial fund is being established in loving memory of Rick Slack.
