Remona Lorene Dowell, age 83, of Fennimore, WI passed away on Friday May 6, 2022, at Agrace Center for Hospice & Palliative Care. She was born on May 3, 1939 in Lumberport, West Virginia the daughter of Virgil and Martha (Riffle) Carroll. Remona was united in marriage to Rollin Dowell on January 14, 1960, in Woodstock, IL.
Remona enjoyed being a homemaker and raising their family. In 1972 the family moved from Wauconda, IL to Lancaster where they farmed, and she was employed at the dry cleaners. After moving to Loyal, WI in 1981, she helped with the daily chores around the dairy farm. In 1985, the family moved back to Lancaster, and she later moved to Fennimore where she retired. Her pure joy in life was spending time with family, and always thinking of others before herself. Remona would make crafts and often share her creations with others. She also enjoyed sewing, painting, gardening, camping, traveling, and spending time with her dogs. Remona will be remembered for the love for her family and her compassion for others.
Remona is survived by her five children: Sue Rappold of Dodgeville, Candy Highland of Twin Lakes, Dean (Brenda) Dowell of Council Hill, IL, Lois Dowell (Jeff Faust) of Boscobel, Ted Dowell of Montfort, 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, son-in-law Paul Mudgett of Monticello, sister Wanda Goergen of Kenosha, and brother Virgil (Helen) Carroll of Indianapolis, IN.
Remona was preceded in death by her parents, husband Rollin on July 26, 1988, daughter Kathie Mudgett, granddaughter Aimee Dowell, seven siblings: Marion Roth, Rosalee Harris, Billy Carroll, Delores Koch, Garnet Carroll, Howard Carroll, and George Carroll.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday May 14, 2022, at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore with burial in the Wauconda Cemetery in Wauconda, IL at a later date. Pastor Luke Hess will be officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home on Saturday morning.
