Paul Dean Loy, age 69, of Plainfield, IL, formerly of Fennimore, WI passed away on Saturday Jan. 5, 2019 at his residence in Plainfield. Paul was born on Nov. 11, 1949 in Dodgeville the son of Dean and Phyllis (Maso) Loy. He was united in marriage to Lisa Zink Watters on July 20, 2007 in Boscobel.
Paul graduated from Fennimore High School in 1968. He went to work in Madison welding until being employed at John Deere in Dubuque, IA. Paul worked there for 42 years until retiring in 2012. Showing signs of declining health, in 2015 Paul was diagnosed with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. He had been currently residing in Plainfield since October of 2017 to receive the care he had needed. Paul enjoyed golfing, traveling, scuba diving, riding his motorcycle, bowling and playing cards, listening to audio books and music, and dancing with his loving wife. He made sure to get his daily walk throughout the community and enjoyed driving his corvette. Paul was also an avid Wisconsin Badger and Green Bay Packer fan. He loved spending time with family and friends and was always willing to entertain everyone around his pool. Paul’s dedication to everyone in his life, and his zest for life, will be cherished forever.
Paul is survived by his wife Lisa of Plainfield, IL, daughter Heidi (Brad Hood) Loy of Stitzer, granddaughter Dezirae Hood, two-step children; Ryan Watters of Plainfield, IL, Rachel (Tim) Bates of Woodridge, IL, step grandchildren Easton and Nolan Bates, sister Kim (Dave) Streif of Fennimore, nephew Alan Streif of Fennimore, step brothers Dan (Karen) O’Flahrity of Davenport, IA and Dennis O'Flahrity of Lancaster, and step brother-in-law Jerry Borowski of Byron, MN.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, step sister Kathy Borowski, and step brother David O’Flahrity.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday Jan. 11, 2019 at the Fennimore United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Prairie Cemetery in Fennimore. Visitation will be held from 4-7:00 P.M. on Thursday Jan. 10, 2019 at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore and from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at the church on Friday morning.
