Mary A. Washburn

Mary A. Washburn, age 82, of Livingston passed away on Wednesday night Oct. 10, 2018 at her residence in Clifton Township rural Livingston. She was born on Feb. 21, 1936 in North Lancaster Township Grant Co. the daughter of Elmer and Glenys (Clark) Jerrett. Mary was united in marriage to Frederick Washburn on April 22, 1954 at the Fennimore United Methodist Church.

Mary was a dedicated wife and mother always willing to help around the farm and was passionate about being there to raise her family. As the years went by, Mary began working as the children left home. She loved being around children and decided to drive school bus for the Iowa Grant School District for over 10 years. She was later employed at Trelay Seed until being moved to the Rural Route Popcorn division. While there, Mary ran the popcorn retail department at the House on the Rock for many years. She then served the community of Montfort and the surrounding area working at Bowden & Alexander in Montfort for over 10 years. Mary was an active member of the Montfort United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and worked as the custodian for the church. Mary will be remembered for her great sense of humor, quick wit, and always have an open door for everyone. Mary will be very missed by all her family and friends and was a VERY LOVING MOM, GRANDMA, and GREAT GRANDMOTHER to all her children.

Mary is survived by her 12 children; Susan Meckley of Cuba City, Tom Washburn of Rewey, Pat (Dave) Stacey of Rewey, Judy (Mark) Myers of Rewey, Sharon (Jerry) Cox of Edgerton, John Washburn of Livingston, Jim (Nan) Washburn of Soldiers Grove, Brad Washburn of Livingston, Todd (Amber) Washburn of Livingston, Joel Washburn and Gia of Livingston, Russell Washburn of Livingston, Travis (Rhonda) Washburn of Fennimore, 34 Grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren along with her brother Charles Jerrett of Hillsborough, NC, and sister Janice (Herb) Ledbury along with several special nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband Frederick on Oct. 11, 2012, granddaughter Stephanie Williams, sister Kathryn Schroeder and two brothers Frederick and Melvin Jerrett, sister-in-laws Margaret Jerrett, Beulah Washburn, and Ruth Noyes, brother-in-laws Carl Washburn and Ron Sime.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday Oct. 17, 2018 at the Montfort United Methodist Church in Montfort with burial to follow in the Rock Church Cemetery rural Livingston. Visitation will be held from 4-8:00 P.M. on Tuesday Oct. 16, 2018 at the Soman-Larson Funeral Home in Montfort and from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at the church on Wednesday morning.
