Brian W. Fugate, age 56, of Cobb, Wisconsin passed away Friday, October 12, 2018 at Manor Care of Platteville, WI surrounded by his loving family. Brian was born on March 16, 1962 in San Diego, CA, son of Roger L. Fugate and LaVonne (Loney) Fugate.
After graduating Fitch High School in Groton, CT, Brian moved to rural Cobb, WI to follow his passion, farming. He established a farmer’s market on Hwy 18 that was especially known for sweet corn and a variety of vegetables. Brian worked as a commercial and residential painter throughout the area and was employed part-time at Land’s End of Dodgeville, WI until retiring due to his declining health. Brian enjoyed traveling, especially to Florida, Connecticut and Hawaii. He also enjoyed golfing, bowling and fishing at Blackhawk Lake. Brian is best remembered for his quick wit, sense of humor and his passion for farming.
Brian is survived by his two sons, Justin Fugate of Elmwood, WI and Tyler Fugate and girlfriend Lauren Cox of Menomonie, WI, father Roger Fugate and wife Jeanne of Westbrook, CT, mother LaVonne Fugate of Platteville, WI, brother Kevin Fugate and wife Carolynne of Waukesha, WI, sister Connie Johnson of Platteville, WI, niece Carrie Johnson of San Diego, CA, nephew Eric Johnson and wife Janine of Evansville, WI, special aunt Mary Anderson and husband Jim of St. Germain, WI, step sisters, Letitia Hedstrom of Newington, CT and Jaime Willey of Larchmont, NY, his former wife Debra (Skaife) Fugate of Elmwood, WI, and many more aunts, uncles and cousins.
Brian was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jacob and Thelma Fugate of Montfort, WI and Keith and Mildred Loney of Prairie du Chien, WI.
Visitations will be held 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 11, 2018 at the Soman-Larson Funeral Home in Montfort, WI. A memorial service conducted by Brian’s uncle, Pastor Jerry Fugate of Jonesville, NC will follow visitation hours. In lieu of plants and flowers, a memorial fund for sons Justin and Tyler is being established in loving memory of their father, Brian Fugate.
