Marian M. Griswold nee Grunenwald, age 95 of Fennimore, passed away peacefully holding her daughters hand on Saturday, December 20, 2014, at Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg.
We, Kay(Fred) Bender of Sun Prairie, Greg (Lu) Griswold of Rhinelander, and Dick (Marilyn) Griswold of Platteville, have lost our mother and best friend. Boyd (Toni) Bender, Matt (Dycee) Griswold, Casey Griswold and Bailey Griswold have lost their Grammie. Halle, Thea, and Drew Bender and Tristan Griswold have lost their Great Grammie.
Marian is also survived by her special nieces and nephews who are mourning the loss of their last aunt.
Marian was born to George W. and Kathryn M. Grunenwald in Livingston, WI on September 4, 1919. Marian was preceded in death by her parents and siblings; Alice Frye, Mildred (Dallas) Wepking, and Harold (Marian) Grunenwald.
Marian married Bill Griswold on February 24, 1940. Bill passed away on July 19, 1981. They farmed their entire life in the Livingston and Fennimore areas.
Mom was the happiest when surrounded by family and friends. She was a great cook and loved to bake bread and rolls. She treasured her life on the farm and was proud of her vegetable and flower gardens. She loved to laugh, have a good game of Euchre, and play Sorry. Even through the painful years she made the best of everything and had a good sense of humor. She was a strong woman and an incredible role model!
A private family funeral service will be held at a later date.
