Lola M. Pagel

Lola M. Pagel, age 89 of Fennimore died on Sunday morning Oct. 14, 2012 at the Fennimore Good Samaritan Society in Fennimore. Lola was born on March 25, 1923 in Mt. Hope the daughter of Harley & Myrtle (Ferguson) Welsh. She was united in marriage to John Pagel on Oct. 28, 1944 in Wilmington, NC.

Following graduation from High School, Lola went to work as a waitress and then at Burgess Battery in Platteville until being employed at Rayovac in Fennimore. Lola worked at Rayovac for 19 years until her retirement. She was very fond of the many friendships that were formed with her co-workers over the years. Lola deeply loved her husband and looked forward to Saturday night dances along with having cookouts with family and friends. Lola and her twin sister Lela continued to share their special bond throughout life; even residing together at Sunset Fields and the Fennimore Good Samaritan Society.  Lola and her daughters greatly appreciate the special care and attention provided by a very special niece, Julie Baumgartner.

Lola is survived by her two children; Linda Holzer of Midwest, WY, and Nancy Pagel and her husband Harley Welsh of Fond du Lac, two grandchildren; Tim Holzer of Casper, WY, and Vicki (Brian) Opalewski of Newton, KS, step granddaughter; Toni Klein of Platteville, two great grandchildren; Kyle & Megann Holzer, step great grandsons; Brandon and Ryan Klein and her twin sister; Lela Wood of Fennimore.

Lola was preceded in death by her parents, husband; John on Dec. 12, 1990, son-in-law; Paul Holzer in July of 2012, her five siblings; Frank (Vivian) Welsh, Georgia (Lennie) Francis, Velma (Lee) Cliff, Jack (Martha) Welsh, L.G. (Joy) Welsh, and her brother-in-law; Arden Wood.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday Oct. 17, 2012 at the Fennimore United Methodist Church in Fennimore with burial to follow in the Prairie Cemetery in Fennimore. Rev. Duane Andrus will be officiating. A visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until time of service at the church on Wednesday morning. The Larson Family Funeral Home of Fennimore is assisting the family.
