Lillian Kay (Moe) Veld

Lillian Kay (Moe) Veld — "Tillie," "Ma"

December 11, 1938 – January 13, 2026

Lillian Kay (Moe) Veld, age 87, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2026.

Born on December 11, 1938, in Richland Center, Wisconsin, Lillian was the daughter of Casper M. Moe and Hannah M. (Goplin) Moe. She was the youngest of ten children and was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Harold Orville Moe, Fay C. Moe, Darwin G. Moe, Ellen L. Moe (infant), Mildred I. Moe, Wesley R. Moe, Alice T. (Moe) Fowler, Gilbert A. Moe, and Norris B. Moe.

Raised in the Bosstown area of Wisconsin, Lillian learned the value of hard work, perseverance, and community from an early age. Despite facing the challenges of childhood polio, she developed a resilient spirit that remained with her throughout her life. She assisted her parents with farm and household responsibilities and was known for her willingness to help others, often working for neighbors and friends through housekeeping, childcare, and other tasks.

In November 1964, Lillian married Clarence Veld. Together they built their home in Boss town, where they welcomed their son, John Robert Veld, on June 4, 1965. Following Clarence's passing on July 17, 1972, Lillian continued forward with the same strength and determination that had always defined her life.

She later resided in Lancaster before returning home to help care for her widowed father. After his passing, she moved to Fennimore in 1981, where she remained for the rest of her life. While in Fennimore, Tillie worked a variety of jobs, including housekeeping, business cleaning, pet sitting, and home healthcare.

Over the years, Tillie formed many lasting friendships and was dearly loved by her family, neighbors, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. In her later years, she could often be found at the kitchen table late in the morning, spending hours on the phone with family members, special nieces Carol, Deb, Pam, Sandy, Karen, and Susie, nephews, and, of course, her brothers and sisters while they were still living.

Tillie will be remembered for her quiet strength, independent spirit, strong work ethic, loving, caring heart, and her laugh that lifted spirits. Her life reflected perseverance, a strong faith, devotion to family, and a genuine appreciation for the people around her.

She is survived by her son, John Robert Veld; many nieces and nephews; extended family members; and numerous dear friends. In addition to her husband, Clarence, she was preceded in death by her parents and nine siblings.
