Betty A. Jeidy

MOUNT IDA - Betty Jeidy, age 93, passed away peacefully at her residence on June 15, 2026, with her family by her side. Betty was born in Mt. Ida, WI, on November 2, 1932, the daughter of Charles (Bill) Grimesey and Gladys Goodrich Grimesey Bowers. Betty was raised in Mt. Ida by her grandmother, Mae Goodrich, and graduated from Fennimore High School in 1950.  Betty was united in marriage to Darrell “Mayor” Jeidy on September 11, 1952, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa, and they were blessed with 64 years of marriage until he passed away on March 16, 2017.

Betty worked as a nursing assistant at Old San Hospital, Prairie du Chien, following graduation, living in the nurse’s house with other girls and the house mother.  After marriage she enjoyed working for many years at the Lancaster Memorial Hospital and the Grant County Sheriff’s Department as a female jailer, waitressed at the Lancaster Hotel, and assisted her son, Bill, occasionally at the Bloomington Convenience Store and the River of the Lakes Campground in Bagley.  Betty was a member of the hospital staff bowling league in Lancaster for many years.  Betty also worked as a private nurse for Mabel and Bill Schneider of Lancaster for many years.  She enjoyed spending time gardening with her husband, along with helping him make his famous horseradish sauce.  She loved traveling to visit her children, grandchildren and siblings.  Betty will be fondly remembered for her many gifts of quilts and afghans, and she was known to be a wonderful baker in her day.  She made quilts with the St. Clements Quilters for several years.

Betty is survived by her five children: Bill (Debra) Jeidy of Fennimore, Vicki Jeidy of Mt. Ida, David Jeidy of Mossyrock, WA, Cheryl Roberts of Simpsonville, SC and Jim Jeidy of Paynesville, MN.  She is also survived by six grandchildren: Christy Peuse, Mark Olson, Johnie Ray Snodgrass, Coral Hunter, Mitchell Jeidy, and Travis Roberts; 13 great-grandchildren; her brother, Chuck (Vicky) Grimesey of Blue River, and many nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Darrell, and siblings, Lloyd Grimesey, Harry Grimesey, Frank Grimesey, Donna Kuhlow, Darlene Goodson, Shirley Bechen and John Bowers and many beloved pets over the years.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to the staff at Grant Regional Hospital, Lancaster, and Grant County Hospice for the care that was given to Betty.
