Janet Novinski

Janet (Batten) Novinski age 86, passed away peacefully on Monday January 9, 2023, at St. Mary’s hospital in Madison. Jan was born on September 23, 1936, inMineral Point WI.  She was the 5th child of Ray and Sylvia (Rule) Batten.

She attended Fennimore schools until 5th grade when her family moved to Milwaukee. She graduated from Milwaukee Washington High School and worked in Milwaukee until she married William “Bill” Novinski on June 29, 1957, and she came back to live in Fennimore.  She was a homemaker for 13 years while Bill owned and operated H&N Plumbing and Heating in Fennimore as they raised their 3 children.

After Bill’s death in 1970, she went back to work at Fennimore Times newspaper and then Frantz and Kurth Law Office until 2017.  She then moved to Brookdale Care Center in Middleton, WI.  Jan loved spending time with family and friends and attending as many sporting events of her children and grandchildren as she could.

She is survived by her children Brad (Julie) Novinski, Beth (Ron) Whitish, Doug (Melissa) Novinski and grandchildren; Tyler (Alicia) Novinski, Garrett (Hannah) Novinski, Josh (Jessica Vesperman) Kreul, Dustin (Lindsey) Kreul, Travis (Abby) Whitish, Tyler (Danielle) Whitish and Oleg Novinski.  Great grandchildren Zoe, Vienna, and Jenson Kreul, Remi and Blake Whitish, Austyn Novinski and baby “Lennon” Novinski (due in February).  She is further survived by brother- in law Huck Novinski, sister-in-laws Elaine “Bink” Sevart, Char (Jerry) Larson, and Mary Ellen (Ron) Karnitz and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bill, parents Ray and Sylvia Batten, siblings Eve Rae (Bud) Stephens, Robert “Buzz” (Shirley) Batten, Marilyn (Ev) Culver Matzke (Clarence), Natalie (Linus) Glowienka, nephew Mark Stephens and great nephew Dale Taylor. She is also preceded in death by her mother and father-in-law Bert and Wilma Novinska, sister- in laws Florence Halverson and Karen Novinski and brothers- in law Walter Novinska, Gordie (Darlene) Novinska, and Jerry Sevart.

Visitation

Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church on Friday morning.

Funeral Services

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, January 13, 2023, at the Fennimore United Methodist Church in Fennimore.

Burial Services

Burial to follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church Cemetery in Fennimore.

Immediately following the committal service food and a time for fellowship will be held in the church hall.
