Montfort, WI – Gresley “Pete” Pederson, age 84 of Montfort died on Monday afternoon July 8, 2013 at Bloomfield Healthcare and Rehab in rural Dodgeville. He was born on Oct. 17, 1928 in McFarland, WI the son of Herman and MettaSophia (Hanson) Pederson. Pete married Shirley Lorenz on May 9, 1953.
Following graduation from Deforest High School, Pete drove taxi cab in Madison before owning his own feed truck, “Pete’s Feed Service”, in Beetown, WI. Pete later worked as a cheese maker in Glen Haven for several years until working for the City of Montfort in 1964 until retiring due to health reasons in 1982. Pete enjoyed the outdoors, fishing in Canada and Minnesota, hunting for turtles, and playing cards. To keep himself busy, he enjoyed working on lawnmowers and tinkering with anything that needed to be fixed.
Pete is survived by his four children; Michael (Deb) Pederson of Hazel Green, WI, Debra (Larry) Griffin of Jackson, TN, Carolyn Pederson of Montfort, and Cindy Pederson of Montfort, four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, a sister Ruth (Leonard) Ziegler of Middleton, and a brother Paul Pederson of McFarland.
Pete was preceded in death by his parents, wife Shirley Pederson in 1984, son Jeff Pederson in 1985, brothers; Eric, Dan, and Raymond Pederson, and a sister Johanna.
A visitation to celebrate Pete’s life will be held from 6-8:00 P.M. on Thursday evening July 11, 2013 at the Soman-Larson Funeral Home in Montfort.
