MOUNT IDA – Glenn Robert Zart, age 75, passed away on Thursday April 25, 2024, surrounded by his family, at home. He was born on November 15, 1948; the son of Robert and Norma (Burton) Zart. On December 6, 1969, Glenn married Linda Hofstetter, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Fennimore.
At just 17 years old, and still a senior at Fennimore High School, Glenn took over his family farm. He graduated in 1966 and remained owner and operator of the dairy farm until 1994. They raised their three children on the family farm, where they learned the importance of hard work. After Glenn and his family were done dairy farming, the farm was transformed to The Pit Shop, where Glenn operated a welding and repair shop. He was a skilled handyman and could fix just about anything. Even though Glenn worked hard, he always made time to spend with family and friends, especially his grandchildren. In his earlier days he enjoyed bowling, shooting pool and playing cards. Over the years, Glenn and Linda hosted many shop parties where friends and family could come together and enjoy each other’s company over a few cold beers. He was a man of few words but when the words did come out, they were full of wit and humor.
Glenn is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Linda; their children: Tricia (Jeremy) Lansing, Brian (Amber) Zart, and Sheri (Justin Walls) Zart; six grandchildren: Tyler, Tec, Tanner, Stella, Taylen, and Brayson; siblings: Beverly (Jerome) Laugesen, Shirley (Joseph) Devlin, Alan (Ernestine) Zart, Susan (Brian) Pennekamp, James (fiancé Janet Blindert) Zart, and John (Amy Prochaska) Zart; and many other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Patricia; and brother, Steven.
