Doris A. Schneider

FENNIMORE - Doris Ann Schneider, age 96, passed away on Monday September 15, 2025, at Orchard Manor in Lancaster. She was born on June 24, 1929, in Lancaster the daughter of Elmer and Elma (Bruss) Kasper. Doris was united in marriage to Earl Schneider on June 12, 1948, in Lancaster.

Doris graduated from Lancaster High School in 1947. She and Earl made their home and farmed in the Mt. Ida Township for many years, retiring in 1990, and then moving to Fennimore in 1991. In 1968, Doris received her associates degree in secretary science and went to work for Country Delight for a few years. As the years went by, Doris was the familiar face behind the soda fountain and the cash register at Craig’s Drug store in Fennimore until retiring in 1989.

Doris enjoyed being around people through the years and made many special relationships. She was an avid gardener, loved flowers, crafting, embroidering, sewing, along with crocheting, quilting, reading and coloring. Doris loved deeply and was a hugger. She was very proud of her family and was invested in all their endeavors.

Through the years, Doris was an active member of the Fennimore United Methodist Church and loved singing in the church choir. She was also a Stephens Minister and member of the Rebekah Lodge. Doris was a former leader of the Golden Sunset 4-H Club and on the Orchard Manor Residence Council.

Doris is survived by her three children: Rose Ellen Schneider of Spring Green, Don (Marsha) Schneider of Fennimore, and Ron (Lisa) Schneider of Fort Atkinson, seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren along with two more on the way, sister-in-law Ione Kasper of Baraboo, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, husband Earl on April 27, 2005, daughter-in-law Cheri Schneider, brother and sister-in-law Virgil and Marlene Kasper, sister and brother-in-law Carol and Orlan Sander.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Orchard Manor Nursing Home in Lancaster, Dwight Parker Library in Fennimore, Fennimore United Methodist Church or a charity of your choice.

The family would like to thank the staff at Orchard Manor for the excellent care they provided for Doris.
