Carl S. Fry

Carl FryCarl S. Fry, age 79, of Lancaster and formerly of Fennimore, died on Saturday April 16, 2016, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. Carl was born on July 6, 1936, in Ellenboro Township, Grant County, WI to Lewis Carlyle and Mable Ann (Cauffman) Fry.

Carl attended Roger Hollow School and Graduated from Fennimore High School.   He married his high school sweetheart, Mina Jones, on Sept. 7, 1956, at the Stitzer United Methodist Church.

Carl hauled canned milk starting at the age of 16. In addition to hauling milk he later worked at the gas station at the corner of North Main St. and Highway 18 in Fennimore. Together Carl and Mina began farming in 1957 as hired help before farming on halves with Mina’s parents. They first farmed on their own in Verona, Highland and Livingston before finally settling in Mt. Ida Township. After retiring in January of 1989, Carl and Mina moved to Fennimore. Carl had been residing in Lancaster since October of 2015.

Carl is survived by his six children, Sara Aide of Gratiot, Mike (Carla) Fry of Fennimore, Debra (Tim) Miller of Richland Center, Patti Fry of Fennimore, Carl (Stacy) Fry of Shullsburg, and Carol (Pat) Edge of Madison, 20 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, sister Norma (Gary) Freymiller of Fennimore, sister-in-laws; Betty Fry of Monona, Kathy Knudston of Boscobel, and Clara Peterson of Fennimore, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife of 50 years Mina on May 6, 2007, brothers Leo and Larry Fry, infant brother Roger Fry, sister Jane Diece, father-in-laws Elwyn Jones and Meade Arms, mother-in-law Carolyn Arms, brother-in-laws Raymond Peterson and Bill Wilkinson.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday April 23, 2016 at the Stitzer United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. on Friday April 22, 2016 at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church on Saturday morning.
