Bruce William Myers, age 80, of Livingston, died on Tuesday morning, May 9, 2017, at Southwest Health Center in Platteville. Bruce was born on Dec. 20, 1936 in Livingston, WI the son of Loyal and Anita (Williams) Myers. He married Donna Place on Feb. 25, 1956 in Livingston.
Bruce graduated from Livingston High School and then attended Platteville Mining School. After he and Donna were married, they moved to Rockford, IL where Bruce worked for Twin Disc Clutch Company. They later moved to Pecatonica, IL before returning back to Southwest Wisconsin when Bruce began working at John Deere in Dubuque, IA. Bruce was a shop committee man until his retirement in the early 1990’s. After retirement, he worked part time for three years at Land’s End in Dodgeville in the embroidery department. Bruce enjoyed spending time in the outdoors fishing, biking and swimming. He also loved cheering on the Green Bay Packers from his Packer room and playing games such as scrabble, cribbage, royal rummy, 500 and pool with family and friends. Bruce was a “wonderful, wonderful” man whose sense of humor and love of family will forever be cherished.
Bruce is survived by the love of his life, Donna, of Livingston, two daughters; Cathy (Jack) Champion of Portage and Lori Myers of Livingston, son Terry (Paulette) Myers of Dubuque, IA, three grandchildren; Kami (Gabe) Chavez, Josh (Connie) Champion and Joel Champion, two great-grandchildren; Beckett Chavez and Jude Champion, two brothers; Eugene (Barb) Myers and Dennis (Diane) Myers and many special grand-pets.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, daughter and son-in-law, Tami (Dave) Hanson and brother Paul Myers.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday May 12, 2017 at the Livingston United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Rock Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. on Thursday evening May 11, 2017 at Soman-Larson Funeral Home in Montfort and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church on Friday morning.
