Bernard M. Kirschbaum

Bernard M. Kirschbaum, age 90, of Lancaster, WI passed away on Sunday morning November 7, 2021, at the Orchard Manor in Lancaster. He was born on June 20, 1931, in Cassville the son of Gus and Lillian (Meier) Kirschbaum. Bernard was united in marriage to Joan Flesch on May 2, 1953, in Potosi.

After working various jobs, Bernard enlisted in the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War. He earned the rank of Corporal while serving abroad and was honorably discharged. Bernard returned home and began working for the Grant County Highway Department for almost 40 years until retiring in 1995. Being very proud of his service to his country, he became a member of the Lancaster VFW. Bernard enjoyed fishing, hunting, or just going for a ride to see the wildlife. He adored his grandchildren and loved to give them some of grandpa’s special love.  

Bernard is survived by his four children: Camille Kirschbaum of Mt. Hope, Bernie (Mary) Kirschbaum of Lancaster, Lawrence (Lisa) Kirschbaum of Lancaster, and Kenneth (Martina) Kirschbaum of Lancaster, 15 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren, sister Donna Williams of Salem, IL, and sister-in-law Lenice Flesch of Dubuque, IA.

Bernard was preceded in death by his parents, wife Joan on July 3, 2018, sister Doreen Lechnir, brother David Kirschbaum, father and mother-in-law John and Mabel Flesch along with many in-laws.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday November 12, 2021, at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore with burial to follow in the St. Clement Catholic Church Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home on Friday morning.
