Fennimore, WI-Anna May Moen, age 94, a loving wife, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully at her residence on Friday morning August 16, 2013. She was born on May 18, 1919 in Waterman, IL the daughter of Samuel & Anna (Mitchell) Gordon. Anna May studied nursing in Chicago, Illinois where she met Ralph Moen. They were united in marriage on March 20, 1946 in Waterman, IL. Ralph and Anna May, active members of the Fennimore community they loved, owned and operated the Fenway Restaurant in Fennimore. Later, Ralph worked as a public servant in Fennimore. Anna May enjoyed being a homemaker for her family and being the Director of Nursing at Boscobel Memorial Hospital.
Anna May’s greatest joy was her family; she always had a suitcase ready to vacation with her children. Anna May was an active member of St. Peter Lutheran Church and loved to garden, paint, read and travel.
Anna May is survived by her beloved eight children: Sam (Suzanne) Moen of Lodi, Wi, Carole (Gary) Cottingham of Geneva, IL, Tom (Chris) Moen of Winnebago, IL, Nancy (Phil) Yapp of Plano, TX, Ron (Mary) Moen – Poynette, WI, Greg (Lisa) Moen of Nekoosa, WI, Mark (Terri Schlichenmeyer of LaCrosse, WI) Moen of Fennimore, WI Janis (Sean) Laycox of Reno, NV. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and her brother Keith (Doris) Gordon of Grand Rapids, Michigan and caring neighbors and friends who dearly loved and helped care for her.
Anna May was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ralph on Sept. 28, 1989, and three brothers; Eugene, Kenneth and John Gordon
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday Aug. 20, 2013 at St. Peter Lutheran Church with burial in the Prairie Cemetery in Fennimore. Pastor Charles Miller will be officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until time of service at the church on Tuesday morning. A memorial fund is being established in loving memory of Anna May Moen. The Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore is assisting the family.
