Gene Edward Rutkowski passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Monday July 4, 2022. He was born on October 23, 1964, in Milwaukee, WI. He moved with his family to Mt. Hope in 1970 and graduated in 1983 from West Grant High School. He had various jobs throughout his life including working on a farm as a general laborer, equipment operator at Oak Creek Power Plant and a truck owner and operator.
Gene was seen to always have a happy go lucky attitude and was very friendly and compassionate. He had a love for horses and horsemanship. He enjoyed and would often compete in rodeos in his younger years. Gene was always willing to help anyone at any time, he was a very giving person. Gene will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his father John E. Rutkowski of Mt. Hope, three brothers: Jeff (Jennifer) Rutkowski of Mt. Hope, Tony (Lisa) Rutkowski of Fennimore, John G. (Julie) Rutkowski of Fennimore, and one sister Elizabeth Herrick of Madison, brother-in-law Brendan Herrick of Mt. Hope, nieces and nephews: Jason Rutkowski, Matt (Krystin) Rutkowski, Jessica (Steve) Herbers, Michael Rutkowski, Stefanie (Dan) Martinez, Kyle (Kandis) Rutkowski, Kevin (Ashley) Rutkowski, Tim Rutkowski, Mark Rutkowski, Stefan (Kaleena) Rutkowski, and Meagan Herrick, Rachel Herrick, and Caitlin Herrick, along with many great nieces and nephews and friends.
Gene was preceded in death by his mother Alicia Rutkowski of Mt Hope, his grandparents Aloysius and Bernice Harmeyer of Oak Creek and Anthony and Margaret Rutkowski of Franklin.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday July 11, 2022, at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore. Immediately following the funeral services, the family invites everyone for food and fellowship at the Bethany Alliance Church in Fennimore. Burial will follow in the St. John’s Cemetery in Patch Grove. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home on Monday morning.
