Helen L. Griffith, age 87, of Fennimore, WI left this world on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at her home in Fennimore WI. She was one of five children born to Frank and Ruby (Havens) Bellis on December 5, 1934, in Crawford County WI.
She started her education in Lancaster until moving and graduating high school from Fennimore. Helen went to Madison to learn how to cut and style hair, it was with in these times that she met Robert “Bob” Griffith. They were married on March 28, 1956, at the Fennimore United Methodist Church, and to this union one son was born.
During their early years together, they lived in the Livingston school house apartment, where Bob was teaching school. She and Bob then went on to move to Mt. Hope and began their lives and farmers. They farmed the land there for a few years until they bought the farm in Fennimore where they would call home for the next 60 plus years. Helen was known for always lending a helping hand, no matter if it was milking cows, working with the hogs, raising the beef cattle, and the daily chores or working in the fields, she was a proud famers wife.
Helen was said to never let her visitors leave her home without a belly full of something freshly baked out of her oven. She had a smile that could warm anyone’s heart, especially with her soft-spoken demeanor. She could often be found in her flower garden, weeding or picking them for a beautiful center piece for the house.
Left to cherish her memories are her husband for 66 years, Bob of Fennimore, son Paul (Linda) Griffith of Fennimore; two granddaughters, and 4 great granddaughters, plus many other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Helen is preceded in death by her parents, siblings; Herbert Bellis, Mildred Bendorf, Ethie Kirshbaum, Phyllis Nickel.
Memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday July 19, 2022, at Fennimore United Methodist Church in Fennimore. Burial will be held out at Prairie Cemetery in Fennimore with a time for food and fellowship at the United Methodist Church following the Committal Service. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church on Tuesday morning.
