Melissa Jo “YaYa” Uren, age 41, of Fennimore, Wisconsin passed away on Tuesday August 24, 2021, at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg after her courageous battle with Neuroendocrine Cancer surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 21, 1980, in Lancaster, Wisconsin the daughter of Robert and Cindy (Parshall) Uren.
Melissa was a beloved daughter, granddaughter, sister, aunt, cousin, friend, coworker, and dog mom. She grew up in Fennimore and graduated from Fennimore High School class of 1998. After graduation, Melissa attended UW-Richland Center, and then worked various jobs including Lands’ End, Nu-Pak, and Rayovac/Energizer. Throughout her years in the workforce, she turned many co-workers into lifelong friends. Melissa was the type of friend that when everyone else had walked out on you she walked in. She was always there for people during their hardest times. “Aunt YaYa”, as her nieces and nephews would call her, was so much more than an aunt, she served as a second mom; loving, caring and spoiling those kids unconditionally. She was very family orientated and endlessly loved her grandparents, parents, siblings and cousins. Melissa was a diehard Green Bay Packers fan; she will be up above and have the best eye over her beloved Packers. She will no doubt still be giving guidance to continue beating dem’ damn Chicago Bears. When she wasn’t spending time with her family or cheering on the packers, she enjoyed traveling to different area State Parks, trips to Chicago and her favorite destinations Green Bay and Door County. She also enjoyed hiking and lots of fishing.
Melissa is survived by her dog Reese, her parents Bob and Cindy Uren of Fennimore, grandma Betty Parshall of Coon Valley, siblings; Hollie (Myles Crubel) and Jason Uren both of Fennimore, nieces and nephews; Sydney, Madden, Presley and Zeppelin, she is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents; Don and Helen Uren, grandfather John W. Parshall, aunt Barb Black and uncles; Thomas Uren and Mark Parshall.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday August 29, 2021, at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore with food and fellowship to follow at the Cottonwood Sports Bar rural Fennimore. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 12:00 noon until the time of service at the funeral home on Sunday. Feel free to attend wearing the “Green and Gold” in honor of Melissa’s favorite team. In lieu of plants and flowers a memorial fund in being established in loving memory of Melissa Jo Uren.
