Michael “Mike” Ferrie, age 71, of Fennimore, Wisconsin passed away unexpectedly, on Monday August 23, 2021, in Friendship, Wisconsin. He was born on July 13, 1950, in Stanley, Wisconsin the son of Richard and Theresa (Glisner) Ferrie. He was united in marriage to Rita Gleason on February 6, 1981, in Fennimore.
Mike was a simple man who believed in a hard day’s work, spending time with family, and being a dedicated friend that they could depend on. He worked as a welder until the early 1980’s. Mike then became a dedicated employee at Rayovac until his recent retirement in July of 2020. He appreciated his coworkers over the years where he made many special friendships. In his younger years, Mike Loved playing softball for Jamison’s out of Beetown and later enjoyed playing golf. He also liked deer hunting, fishing, and going for pontoon rides and sitting around a campfire with family. Mike was one to never complain and valued his friendships. Mike adored his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved kidding around and will be remembered for his big smile and hardy laugh. Mike was often seen at many charity events in the community and in death, Mike continued his generosity through his gift of organ and tissue recovery for others in need. Mike will be deeply missed by all his family, friends, and especially his golfing pals.
Mike is survived by his wife Rita of Fennimore, two daughters Elizabeth (Lance) Gehrett of West Allis and Kathryn (Matthew) Omdahl of Fennimore, also children Christine, Joe, and John, his beloved grandchildren; Max, Emma, and Maeve Gehrett, Kya Wehrle, and Adeline Omdahl, siblings; Richard Jr., Jim, Mary, Pam, Patty, Barb, Debbie and Bonnie, and his in-laws; Betty Gleason, Kathy (Curt) Freymiller, Mary Gleason, along with many special nieces and nephews.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Harper Gehrett, two sisters Linda and Margaret, brothers-in-law Thomas and Bob Gleason, sisters-in-law Patty Prochaska, Mary Coudray, and niece Jennifer Gleason.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:00-12:00 noon on Saturday August 28, 2021, at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore followed by “A Celebration of Life” from 12:00 noon until 3:00 P.M. at the Cottonwood Sports Bar rural Fennimore. In lieu of plants and flowers a memorial fund is being established in loving memory of Mike Ferrie.
