Maxine Julia Fuerstenberg, age 76, of Fennimore passed away on Monday evening April 20, 2020 at the St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison. She was born on February 4, 1944 in Fennimore the daughter of Harold and Sophia (Burgus) Lewis. Maxine was united in marriage to Francis Fuerstenberg on February 8, 1964 in Boscobel.
Maxine was employed at Rayovac in Fennimore for over 15 years until her early retirement. Then she was able to focus on her true passion in life, her family. She adored them and loved her role as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great mother. Maxine cherished all her time spent with family especially going camping and having family cookouts. She loved spending the holidays together and was sure to host Christmas each year. She was always on the go and enjoyed finding rummage sales and going fishing or watching hummingbirds. Maxine found great pleasure in the simple things that life offered. Her commitment to her family and wonderful hugs and kisses will be forever cherished and deeply missed.
Maxine is survived by her husband Francis of Fennimore, four children; Terry Fuerstenberg of Fennimore, Tammy (fiancé Jerry Waterman) of Fennimore, Julie (fiancé Justin DeBoer) of Fennimore, and Ed (Amy) Fuerstenberg of Winneconne, seven grandchildren; Tory (Caitlin Menning) Fuerstenberg, Nicole Fiedler, Samantha (Jason) Wallenkamp, Shaun Fiedler, Zachary (Samantha Stelpflug) Biddle, Tyler (Mariah) Fuerstenberg, Brittney (fiancé Bradley Augsburger) Fuerstenberg, 11 great grandchildren, six siblings; Bill (Diane) Lewis, Richard (Sharon) Lewis, Joan (Don) Atkinson, Jean (Chuck) Roghers, Chuck (Carmen) Lewis, and Randy Lewis, along with many nieces and nephews.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved grandsons; Damien Lord and Brandon Fuerstenberg, son-in-law Michael Fiedler, and sister Diane Puckett.
In keeping with the executive order prohibiting gatherings, a private family graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday April 23, 2020 at the Prairie Cemetery in Fennimore. The Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore is assisting the family and memorials may be sent here at 925 10th St. Fennimore, WI 53809.
