Charles M. Greener, age 87, of Mt. Hope passed away on Sunday morning Oct. 7, 2018 at his residence in Woodman Township rural Mt. Hope. Charles was born on Aug. 24, 1931 in La Crosse the son of Clyde and Johanna (Steiner) Greener. He was united in marriage to Diane Ruegg on June 20, 1953 in Dubuque, IA.
Charles was very proud to serve his country and was recognized as a decorated Korean War Veteran. After he was honorably discharged from the US Army, Charles got involved in manufacture consulting. He held various consulting jobs throughout the country until becoming the plant manager for Universal Silencer in Muscoda until retiring in the early 2000’s. He took on a few employment roles with Dillman of Prairie du Chien, along with Land’s End of Dodgeville, and Rural Route 1 of Livingston. Charles enjoyed the simple life, He was an avid reader and loved going to the Library, crossword puzzles, fishing, hunting, camping, and liked watching the Green Bay Packers, boxing, and MMA.
Charles is survived by his wife of 65 years, Diane of Mt. Hope, four children; Jeffrey (Linda) Greener of Spruce Pine, NC, Kimberly (Dean Felix) Brown of Aberdeen, WA, Kevin Greener of Mt. Hope, Jason (Dottie Davenport) Greener of Barneveld, five grandchildren; Cassandra and Rhiannon, Stephanie, Andrew, and Samantha, five great grandchildren; Temprance, Bradley, twins Ethan and Avery, and Aurora, four siblings; Roseann (Ronald) Erickson of Onalaska, Robert (Sue) Greener of Leonard, MN, Clydine (Dave) Moore of La Crosse, Carl Greener of La Crosse, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Richard and James Greener, and two sisters Joanne House and Mary Lou Greener.
At the request of Charles and his family there will be no memorial services. The Larson Family Funeral Home of Fennimore assisted the family.
