Ann E. Mayne

Ann E. Mayne, age 85, of Mt. Hope, died unexpectedly on Friday March 23, 2018, at her residence in Mt. Hope. Ann was born on Dec. 14, 1932, in Terry Montana, the daughter of Arthur and Henrietta (Weigum) Reukauf. She was united in marriage to James Mayne on June 9, 1951 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA.

Ann moved to Mt. Hope in 1945 and graduated from Mt. Hope High School in 1950. She moved to Milwaukee to further her education while working at the Barcley Foundry as a secretary. Wanting to help at home and assist with the care of her parents, Ann soon returned to Mt. Hope. She was later employed by the Mt Hope Telephone Co. and typed records for the returning veterans. In 1977, Ann began working for the Fennimore Veterinarian Clinic for 28 years until retiring in 2005. Ann loved sharing her gift of music and sang at the Fennimore Good Samaritan Society for all the residence since opening. She enjoyed dancing, gardening, growing flowers, feeding the birds, managing their farm and cheering on the Milwaukee Brewers and Wisconsin Badger basketball. She loved learning about her family history and found great comfort visiting the ranches of where she grew up as a child. She was a 40 plus-year member of the Daughters of American Revolution. Ann loved to cook Sunday meals for everyone and was sure to have daily tea ready at 3:00 p.m. The bond with her family was very special and she loved her family dearly. Ann’s wonderful conversations, songs she shared and infectious laugh will be dearly missed.

Ann is survived by her four children; Russell (Donna) Mayne of Edgerton, WI, Fred (Barb) Mayne of Theresa, WI, Kim (Tanya) Mayne of Mt. Hope and Ruth (Steve) Bradley of Mt. Hope; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law Elnora Reukauf of Edgerton.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, husband James; five sisters, Ruth Miller, Chris Smerke, Nell Mahlum, Hazel Armstrong, and Elaine Reukauf; and five brothers, Bob, Art, Walt, John and Bill Reukauf.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 7, 2018, at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the time of services at the funeral home on Saturday morning. Private burial of the cremains will be held at a later date at Hermitage Cemetery in rural Mt. Hope. In lieu of plants and flowers, a memorial fund is being established in loving memory of Ann E. Mayne.
