Charles "Chuck" A. Matthews

Charles “Chuck” A. Matthews, age 68, of Montfort, died unexpectedly and peacefully on Friday March 30, 2018, in his favorite recliner at home. Chuck was born on Sept. 21, 1949 to Clinton & Nancy (Giltner) Matthews, the youngest of eight children.

He was a son, brother, friend, husband, father, grandfather, gifted athlete, bar owner, veteran, VFW member, fireman, grill guru, spice master, fisherman, hunter, bowler, a longtime regular at THE SHED, sports fan, and laborer.  Chuck was a simple man who never had a need for much beyond those he loved, a cozy barstool, a full drink, good friends, continuous laughter, and someone to tell a dirty joke to. He was selfless and lived to make others smile.

Chuck was the owner of his own spice and mustard company Pig Turd Hollow, and was employed most recently for many years at Bowden & Alexander in Montfort.  He loved the interaction with the community that these brought him.

Chuck will be dearly missed by his children, Amy (Dave) Bowen of Lancaster and Angie (Scot) Fashun of Montfort; four grandchildren, Dawson and Eden Bowen and Summer and Junior Fashun; and his forever children and grandchildren, Gia, Joel, Jennica, Brylie, Karstyn, JoEtt, Mike, Skylar, Colten, Kistie, Troy, Chezlie and Ty; brothers Bill (Carol) Matthews, and Jim Matthews; brother-in-laws Tom Thomas and Joe Pluemer; and sister-in-law Elaine Matthews.

Chuck is having a happy reunion in heaven with his parents and five of his siblings: Mary Thomas, Patsy Pluemer, Nancy Jenks, Keith Matthews, and George Matthews, as well as sister-in-law Nancy Matthews, and brother-in-law Jim Jenks. We know that Al “Bear” Tanner will be showing him the best catfishing spots that exist up there.

A celebration of Chuck’s life will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday afternoon April 28, 2018 at Sheddy’s Bar & Grill in Montfort.  In lieu of flowers or gifts, memorials are appreciated.
